Instructions for authors

The Journal of Economics and Decision Sciences (JEDS) is a double-blind, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research at the intersection of economics, decision-making, analytics, public policy, and emerging technologies.

JEDS welcomes theoretical, empirical, experimental, and applied research that enhances understanding of economic behavior, organizational decision-making, business and public policies, and data-driven solutions to contemporary challenges.

The journal seeks to connect academic rigor with practical relevance by publishing research that informs decision-making in governments, businesses, non-profit organizations, and society at large.

To encourage submissions during the journal's launch period, no Article Processing Charges (APCs) will be applied to manuscripts accepted for publication.

 

Submissions

All manuscripts must be submitted through the online submission system. Authors should log in to an existing account or register for a new account before submitting a manuscript.

 

Publication Ethics

Manuscripts submitted to JEDS must represent original work not previously published and not under consideration elsewhere. Authors are expected to adhere to the highest standards of research integrity, including proper citation, transparency, and disclosure of conflicts of interest.

 

Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening followed by a double-blind peer-review process involving one or more independent reviewers. The Editorial Office reserves the right to reject submissions at the initial screening stage where the manuscript falls outside the journal's scope or does not comply with submission requirements.

 

Types of Articles

Research Articles

Original theoretical, empirical, experimental, or applied studies that advance knowledge in economics and decision sciences.

Research Notes

Concise studies presenting innovative findings, novel methodologies, policy insights, or preliminary but important empirical results.

 

Submission Requirements

The Journal of Economics and Decision Sciences (JEDS) welcomes original manuscripts that are not under consideration elsewhere. The submission should be made through the Submission System. Each submission must include a Cover Page and an Anonymous Manuscript. Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal's formatting requirements may be returned to the authors before being sent for review.

 

Manuscript File Format

Article files should be provided in Microsoft Word. PDF files may be submitted provided that an editable Microsoft Word version is also supplied.

 

Manuscript Length

JEDS does not impose a strict word limit on submissions. However, authors are encouraged to communicate their contributions as concisely as possible. Manuscripts that present clear and significant findings in a shorter format are especially welcome.

Typical manuscript lengths are:

• Research Articles: typically 3,000-8,000 words
• Research Notes: typically 1,500-3,000 words

Longer manuscripts may be considered when justified by the nature and scope of the research.

 

Cover Page

The cover page should include:

Article title	A title of not more than fifteen words.
Author details	All contributing authors’ names, affiliation, and email should be displayed and arranged in the correct order. One author should be identified as the corresponding author.
Disclosure statement	Disclose any financial or non-financial interests that could be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation. If there are no relevant competing interests to declare please state: The authors report there are no competing interests to declare.
Declaration of generative AI use	Acknowledge whether and how generative AI has been used in the research and manuscript preparation process. If generative AI was not used, please state: The authors declare that generative AI was not used in conducting the research or preparing this manuscript.
Data availability statement	If data were used in the research, please provide information about where the data supporting the results or analyses presented in the paper can be found. Where applicable, this should include the hyperlink, DOI or other persistent identifier associated with the data set(s).
Acknowledgements	Acknowledge all sources of financial support that helped to cover the expenses associated with the preparation of the article. Acknowledgements to anonymous reviewers should not be included.

 

Anonymous Manuscript

Article title	A title of not more than fifteen words.
Abstract	An unstructured abstract not exceeding 200 words.
Keywords	3-6 keywords that encapsulate the principal topics.
JEL Classification Codes	2-5 JEL codes (see https://www.aeaweb.org/econlit/jelCodes.php for further information).
Main text	The text should be organized into an introductory section, conveying the background and purpose, and then into sections identified with subheadings. Sections and subsections should be numbered.
Footnotes	Footnotes should be numbered consecutively and indicated in the text using superscript Arabic numerals. Endnotes should not be used.
Tables/ Figures	All tables and figures should be embedded in the manuscript at the appropriate locations and accompanied by numbered titles and captions.
References	Please ensure that all references cited in the text are included in the reference list and that all entries in the reference list are cited in the text. The reference list should follow the APA (American Psychological Association) format. The addition of DOI (Digital Object Identifier) numbers is recommended but not essential.
Appendices	Appendices should be placed at the end of the paper, numbered and referred to in the text.

Note: Authors’ information or identifiers should NOT be included in the Anonymous Manuscript.

 

Author Details

In the Submission System, please make sure:

• Correct e-mail addresses are provided for each author in their respective author accounts.
• The full name of each author is recorded in their author account exactly as it should appear in publication, including or excluding any middle names or initials as required.
• The affiliation of each contributing author is correct in their individual author account. The affiliation listed should be where they were based at the time that the research for the paper was conducted.

 

Suggested Reviewers

Authors may recommend up to five potential reviewers during the submission process. The Editorial Office retains full discretion in the selection of reviewers and may choose reviewers other than those suggested by the authors.

Authors retain copyright in their published work and grant JEDS a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, reproduce, and archive the article. All published articles are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License, which permits unrestricted use, sharing, adaptation, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and source.
